I don't know why it irks me, but it does. Why do people say "expresso" instead of "espresso?" I even see signs that say it wrong. And excape? Really?
Espresso escape
There is no X in either
Express correctly.

In my personal experience France and Spain say and spell it expresso.
I've found that French Candians, and Canadians who live near the Quebec tend to say expresso too.
Personally it bugs me too. There is, at least, a etymological context for it. So technically, in the melting pot of the English language both are correct.
